TUARAN, 18 May 2026 (The Capital Post) — Deputy Health Minister, Hanifah Hajar Taib continued the Sabah edition of the Borneo Health Tour with a working visit to Tuaran Hospital in Sabah recently.
Upon arrival, the Deputy Health Minister was welcomed by Tuaran Hospital Director, Dr. Primus John, before being taken on a tour of the hospital to observe the healthcare facilities and services provided to patients and the local community.
Tuaran Hospital, which was officially opened on 8 April 1994, has continued to strengthen its healthcare capabilities through the Phase II development project that was launched on 17 September 2015.
The enhancement involved the expansion of various healthcare facilities and services to cater to the growing needs of the surrounding population.
Currently, Tuaran Hospital operates with 82 beds and provides healthcare services to more than 135,000 residents in the area.
Among the services offered are outpatient treatment, emergency and trauma care, anaesthesiology, haemodialysis, forensic services, radiology, pharmacy, optometry, dietetics and food services, pathology and transfusion medicine, as well as physiotherapy.

The hospital also records an average daily patient attendance of between 200 and 300 people, reflecting its important role as one of the main healthcare facilities in the Tuaran district.
During the visit, Hanifah Hajar Taib also spent time engaging with healthcare workers as a gesture of appreciation for their commitment and dedication in ensuring quality healthcare delivery to the public.
The Ministry of Health reaffirmed its commitment to continuously strengthening the national healthcare system to ensure it remains relevant, sustainable and resilient for the well-being of the rakyat.
Also present were Wilfred Madius Tangau, Sabah State Health Director Dato’ Dr. William Gotulis, Senior Deputy Secretary of the MOH Development Division Nazaruddin Sharaai, and Public Health Medicine Specialist Dr. Harish Raj Narandaran.
