ASHGABAT, 19 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed the MADANI Government’s commitment to strengthening ties with Malaysians living abroad during a gathering with the Malaysian diaspora in Ashgabat.
According to a post on his official Facebook page, Anwar Ibrahim, Malaysians abroad serve as the nation’s unofficial ambassadors, playing an important role in enhancing Malaysia’s image, expanding international networks and elevating the country’s standing on the global stage.
Despite being far from home, he said the strong sense of camaraderie and warmth among Malaysians overseas reflected the enduring spirit of unity that transcends geographical boundaries.
Anwar Ibrahim emphasised that the government remains committed to ensuring Malaysians abroad stay connected to their homeland, while recognising their contributions as an integral part of the nation’s development agenda.

He also shared the objectives of his visit to Ashgabat, noting that it extends beyond trade, investment and economic cooperation to include efforts to deepen bilateral ties, strengthen mutual understanding and explore new avenues of collaboration that would benefit both Malaysia and Turkmenistan.
The Prime Minister said fostering stronger people-to-people ties remains a key pillar of Malaysia’s diplomatic engagement and is essential in building long-term strategic partnerships. – The Capital Post
