KEPONG, 21 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – Secretary-General of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), Datuk Wira Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin, conducted a working visit to the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) on Friday to review ongoing research initiatives supporting the nation’s environmental sustainability agenda.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Sumber Asli dan Kelestarian Alam (NRES), the visit aimed to provide a closer look at FRIM’s functions, roles and research progress in biodiversity conservation, sustainable forest resource management and the development of innovations based on natural resources.
The ministry said the visit also included briefing sessions and discussions to strengthen strategic collaboration between NRES and FRIM in enhancing policies and programmes related to environmental sustainability.
During the engagement, Anis Rizana highlighted the importance of research and innovation as key drivers in supporting evidence-based policymaking and ensuring the sustainable management of the country’s natural resources.

She said continuous investment in scientific research and innovation is essential to safeguarding environmental sustainability for the wellbeing of present and future generations.
Also present during the visit were Deputy Undersecretary of the Biodiversity and Forestry Management Division, Nadzmin Ahmad Nazir, as well as officials from NRES and FRIM.
The ministry said the collaboration underscores its commitment to advancing sustainable development initiatives in line with the national agenda for environmental conservation and responsible natural resource management. – The Capital Post
