Bangladesh PM’s First Overseas Visit Signals Strong Confidence in Malaysia

Putrajaya, 22 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia has described the official visit by Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman as a strong reflection of the confidence placed in the country and the longstanding ties between both nations.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Ramanan Ramakrishnan Official Media, members of the Malaysian Cabinet accompanied Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in welcoming Rahman, who is undertaking a two-day official visit to Malaysia.

The visit carries added significance as Malaysia was selected as Rahman’s first official overseas destination since assuming office as Bangladesh’s prime minister.

The Facebook post stated that the choice of Malaysia underscores the close bilateral relationship between the two countries and signals Bangladesh’s high level of confidence in Malaysia as a strategic regional partner.

During the official reception ceremony in Putrajaya, Rahman was accorded full state honours, including an inspection of the guard of honour mounted by the First Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment.
