Kuantan, 22 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), also known as Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia, has officially received the FN MAG 58M 7.62mm weapon system for its EC 725 AP/H225M helicopters, strengthening its Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) operational capability and enhancing protection for personnel and assets during high-risk missions.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Defence Malaysia, the acquisition of five FN MAG 58M machine guns forms part of RMAF’s ongoing capability enhancement initiative under the RMAF Capability Development Plan 2055.
The integration of the weapon system into the EC 725 AP/H225M platform is expected to improve mission effectiveness, particularly in CSAR operations in hostile environments, while also supporting humanitarian assistance, tactical transport, and special operations.
Prior to the official handover, a Final Acceptance Test (FAT) was conducted at Kuantan Air Base and Labuan Air Base involving No. 10 Squadron and No. 5 Squadron to ensure the system met required technical specifications, safety standards, and operational requirements.

The handover ceremony was officiated by Airbus Helicopters Managing Director Axel de Pascal and received by RMAF Chief General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Muhamad Norazlan bin Aris.
The ministry said the integration of the FN MAG 58M system is expected to significantly enhance RMAF’s operational readiness and survivability in complex mission environments.– The Capital Post
