Johor Bahru, 23 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – Pakatan Harapan (PH) has announced a total of 56 candidates who will contest in the upcoming Johor state election, with the coalition expressing confidence in its platform and record in government.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Anwar Ibrahim, the candidates will represent Malaysia’s diverse communities while focusing on local issues that directly affect the people of Johor.
Anwar said PH is entering the election with a clear commitment to delivering change, citing what he described as the MADANI Government’s achievements at the federal level. He highlighted various initiatives and allocations channelled to Johor throughout the administration’s tenure.
He also noted that Johor has continued to receive significant federal support, stating that while the state contributes around RM14 billion to the Federal Government, more than RM16 billion has been returned through development, infrastructure and welfare allocations. He added that Johor receives the third-largest overall allocation among Malaysian states.
In the same post, Anwar stressed the importance of preserving democratic principles, saying political contests should remain a competition between parties without involving any national institutions, including the royal institution.

He also called for election campaigns to be conducted based on facts, policies and track records rather than attempts to exploit racial or religious sentiments for political gain.
Addressing the newly announced candidates, Anwar said the election should be viewed as a responsibility to serve the people and address their concerns, rather than a contest for power or positions.
The announcement marks the beginning of PH’s campaign efforts as political parties prepare for the upcoming Johor state election. – The Capital Post
