KUALA LUMPUR, 26 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Defence has launched the National Defence Strategic Plan (PSPN) 2026–2030 and the Defence Capability Blueprint (RTKP) 2026–2030 to chart Malaysia’s defence priorities over the next five years.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Pertahanan Malaysia, the two strategic documents were introduced to strengthen the nation’s preparedness in addressing geopolitical uncertainties, disruptive technological developments and increasingly complex security threats.
The PSPN 2026–2030 will continue to support the Defence White Paper through seven strategic pillars aimed at enhancing the readiness of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), strengthening defence capabilities, improving the welfare of defence personnel and veterans, and advancing the country’s defence industry and international defence cooperation.
Meanwhile, the RTKP outlines the capacity and resources required to achieve the objectives set out under the national defence strategy.

For the first time, the ministry’s strategic plan has been rebranded as the National Defence Strategic Plan, reflecting the view that national defence is no longer solely the responsibility of the ministry but a shared national agenda involving the whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach.
The ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating the modernisation of the Malaysian Armed Forces by developing future defence capabilities in artificial intelligence, cyber defence, electronic warfare and satellite technologies, while continuing to prioritise the welfare of serving personnel and veterans.
The PSPN and RTKP are expected to serve as key policy frameworks in ensuring Malaysia maintains a modern, adaptive and responsive defence force capable of safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and strategic interests. – The Capital Post.
