KUALA LUMPUR, 2 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad has assured Malaysians that the government’s financial adjustments to the Ministry of Health (MOH) will not compromise the quality of healthcare services or ongoing development projects nationwide.

Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat while responding to a question from Putatan MP Datuk Ir. Shahelmey Yahya, Dzulkefly addressed concerns over the proposed reduction in public healthcare funding and sought to clarify public misconceptions surrounding the matter.

He explained that amid a challenging global economic environment, the Ministry of Health successfully negotiated to reduce the proposed budget restriction from the Ministry of Finance’s initial RM3.06 billion to RM500 million, representing only 1.07 per cent of the ministry’s total allocation of RM46.52 billion.

Dzulkefly stressed that the financial adjustment is purely technical and will not affect funding for essential healthcare operations, including the supply of medicines, medical consumables, raw materials, daily operations at health facilities, utility payments, staff allowances and training programmes.

He also emphasised that the ministry’s development allocation remains intact, with all approved funding ceilings for 2026 maintained as originally approved. As a result, healthcare infrastructure projects, including those in Sabah and rural areas, will proceed without disruption.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, the MADANI Government remains committed to prioritising the healthcare sector to ensure Malaysians continue to receive quality healthcare services across the country. – The Capital Post.
