PASIR MAS, 23 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) has launched the Large-Scale Solar 5 (LSS5) Project in Pasir Mas, Kelantan, marking another milestone in Malaysia’s transition towards clean energy.
The project was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation Datuk Amar Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, alongside Kelantan Menteri Besar Dato’ Panglima Perang Ustaz Dato’ Haji Mohd Nassuruddin bin Haji Daud.
The LSS5 project involves two key developers, Samaiden Legasi Timur Sdn. Bhd. with a generation capacity of 99.99 megawatts (MW) and GVU Fajar Timur with a capacity of 27.60MW, bringing the total installed capacity to 127.59MW.
PETRA said the project is expected to make a significant contribution to the stability of the national electricity supply while creating new employment opportunities and stimulating local economic growth that will benefit communities in Pasir Mas and across Kelantan.
The ministry added that the initiative reflects investor confidence in Malaysia’s national energy policies and demonstrates strong collaboration between the Federal Government, the Kelantan state government and the private sector in supporting the country’s low-carbon economic agenda under the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

PETRA also acknowledged the contributions of the Energy Commission, Kelantan State Economic Development Corporation (PKINK), Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, the project developers and other participating agencies for their commitment to the successful implementation of the project.
Also present were Kelantan State Secretary Tengku Kaya Perkasa Dato’ Dr. Tengku Mohamed Faziharudean Al-Haj bin Tengku Feissal, Kelantan Executive Councillor for Employment, Infrastructure, Water and Rural Development Dato’ Dr. Haji Izani bin Husin, and PKINK Group Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Sr. Haji Zamri bin Haji Ismail.
