KUALA LUMPUR, July 28, 2026 (The Capital Post) – Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad today officiated the opening of the 32nd APHM International Healthcare Conference and Exhibition at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), underscoring Malaysia’s commitment to advancing a more sustainable and value-driven healthcare system.
Speaking at the conference, themed “From Volume to Value: Measuring What Matters in Healthcare Performance,”Dzulkefly stressed the need for a paradigm shift from volume-based healthcare delivery to a value-based model that prioritises better patient outcomes and overall healthcare quality.
During the event, the minister also announced the pilot launch of MediAsas in the Klang Valley, offering an indicative premium starting from RM60. The initiative is scheduled for nationwide expansion in January 2027 and will be supported by the Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) payment system alongside close collaboration between the public and private healthcare sectors through the Joint Public-Private Healthcare Collaboration Committee (JBMKKS).
He further highlighted progress under the Malaysia Digital Health Certification Network (MDHCN), where the “One Record, One Patient” principle is being implemented to ensure interoperability of electronic medical records and reduce unnecessary repeat diagnostic tests.

The government is also modernising the certification process for private healthcare facilities under Act 586 while enhancing transparency in hospital pricing as part of broader healthcare reforms.
Among those present were Deputy Director-General of Health (Medical) Datuk Dr. Mohd Azman Yaakub, APHM President Datuk Dr. Kuljit Singh, APHM Vice President Chin Keat Chyuan, APHM Honorary Secretary Anwar Anis, as well as representatives from Malaysia’s and the international healthcare industry.
