KUALA KUBU BHARU, July 29, 2026 (The Capital Post) – Deputy Defence Minister YB Adly Zahari conducted a working visit to the Inisiatif Pendapatan Rakyat – Usahawan Tani (IPR–INTAN) PERHEBAT project at Kem Erskine to review the implementation progress of an initiative aimed at benefiting Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) veterans.
The visit reflects the Ministry of Defence’s continued commitment towards strengthening veteran welfare through economic empowerment and sustainable second-career opportunities.
The IPR–INTAN PERHEBAT project, fully supported by the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Defence, focuses on the commercial and group-based cultivation of bird’s eye chilli. Beginning September 2026, the four-acre project will be managed by nine ATM veterans with a capacity of up to 16,000 chilli plants.
The initiative is expected to create more veteran agropreneurs while contributing towards the country’s food security agenda through sustainable agricultural activities.

Also accompanying the visit were PERHEBAT Director General Dato’ Ts. Amir Md. Noor; Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel Services Brig. Jen. Hj. Mohd Sam Mohd Yusof TUDM; and 12 Brigade Commander Brig. Jen. Mahamad Fazli Mat Idris.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Pertahanan Malaysia, the initiative highlights the ministry’s efforts in supporting veterans by creating new economic opportunities and enhancing their long-term wellbeing. – The Capital Post
