TOKYO: 28 February 2020 (The Capital Post) – Two operators of Disney resorts, Disneyland and DisneySea, have announced that two theme parks will be closed for two weeks due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19.

According to a statement today, the closure follows the government’s call for measures to curb the spread of the virus.
“Disneyland and DisneySea located in Tokyo will be closed from tomorrow (February 29) until March 15.” he said.
He also added that “This is because we are concerned about the spread of the new coronavirus and the government is urging the same,”
Its owner, Oriental Land, said it hoped the two theme parks would reopen on March 16.
“As planned, operations will all be open on March 16. However, it depends on the current situation and its development and we will consult with relevant agencies,” he said.

Over 30 million tourists visit the two theme parks each year, and it is one of the popular tourist attractions in the city.
The drastic move was announced in conjunction with the government’s move to deal with the outbreak of four deaths and nearly 200 infections in Japan.
Last night, the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe has ordered schools across the country to be closed for a month, but after-school nursery and club operations were excluded.
Indeed, the government also encourages people to work from home and refrain from holding public meetings. – The Capital Post
