JULAU, SARAWAK, 14 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – Minister of Plantation and Commodities YB Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad and her deputy YB Dato’ Sri Huang Tiong Sii today visited a pepper farm owned by Encik Nalong anak Jantan in Nanga Langu, Julau, as part of efforts to strengthen the development of Malaysia’s pepper industry.
The working visit provided Kementerian Perladangan dan Komoditi (KPK) with an opportunity to observe the development of pepper cultivation on the ground and hear directly from smallholders about their challenges and needs.
The visit is in line with KPK’s commitment to engaging closely with smallholder communities and ensuring that agrocommodity development initiatives deliver direct benefits to them.
During the visit, the KPK delegation witnessed a demonstration of the Dr.Lada application, a briefing on the Piperspectral Project and a drone flight demonstration.
The delegation also observed the use of fertigation and Internet of Things (IoT) technology, as well as pepper processing equipment at the farm level.

The adoption of technology, mechanisation and innovation at the farm level is important in improving productivity and crop management efficiency, while strengthening the competitiveness of Malaysia’s pepper industry and increasing smallholders’ income.
KPK will continue to strengthen cooperation with the Malaysian Pepper Board (MPB) and the smallholder community to drive a more modern, productive and competitive pepper industry.
