SIK, Kedah, 7 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Works (KKR) continues its commitment to ensuring the successful delivery of national infrastructure projects through a site visit by KKR Secretary-General YBhg. Dato’ Seri Azman bin Ibrahim to the Replacement Project for Bridge FT175/037/72 in Sik, Kedah.
The visit was part of the KKR’s Turun Padang (TURPA) initiative, reflecting a management by walking around approach where direct monitoring at project sites is carried out to assess progress, identify implementation challenges and coordinate swift and effective solutions.
The approach strengthens project governance, enhances accountability among all parties, particularly the Superintending Officer (PP) and contractors, while ensuring decisions are made based on actual conditions on the ground.
During the site inspection, Dato’ Seri Azman stressed that contractors must fulfil their contractual obligations, particularly involving manpower, materials and machinery, with monitoring by the PP to ensure the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe.
He added that the success of a project should not only be measured by physical progress but also by its ability to be completed according to scope, cost and quality, without compromising safety, integrity and value for money.

The bridge replacement project represents a strategic investment by the MADANI Government to strengthen rural connectivity, improve road user safety and provide smoother access for the local community.
Upon completion, the new bridge is expected to support more efficient mobility, contribute to local economic growth and enhance the wellbeing of communities in Sik and surrounding areas.
KKR said it would continue strengthening its Delivery Excellence culture, accelerating the resolution of issues at project sites and optimising cooperation between implementing agencies and stakeholders.
