MALUDAM, Sarawak, 7 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – Health Director-General of Malaysia, YBhg. Datuk Dr. Mahathar bin Abd. Wahab, continued his official visit to Sarawak on the second day by visiting Klinik Kesihatan Maludam (Type 6) in Betong.
The clinic, which began operations in 1978, entered a new phase after moving into its newly completed building on 8 June 2026 under the Klinik Daif Project.
The upgrading reflects the Ministry of Health Malaysia’s (KKM) ongoing commitment to providing more comfortable, modern and conducive healthcare facilities for the local community.
During the visit, Datuk Dr. Mahathar was briefed on the clinic’s operations by Betong Divisional Health Officer YBrs. Dr. Mohamad Norhaizam bin Ahmad@Narawi and Klinik Kesihatan Maludam Medical Officer YBrs. Dr. Nur Nadia binti Mohd. Makhtar.
He was also taken on a tour of the facilities and services provided by the clinic, which serves approximately 4,500 residents in the surrounding areas and receives between 40 and 70 patients daily.

Apart from outpatient treatment, emergency care and chronic disease management, Klinik Kesihatan Maludam also provides maternal and child health services, mental health support, modern wound care, domiciliary care, the Adolescent-Friendly Health Programme, as well as various health screening initiatives to meet the community’s overall healthcare needs.
Also accompanying the visit were YBrs. Dr. Jamiatul Aida binti Md. Sani, Deputy Director (Policy and Public Health Services), Public Health Development Division, KKM; YBrs. Dr. Radziah binti Mohamad, Deputy Director (Family Health), Family Health Development Division, KKM; YBrs. Dr. Mohamad Nazaruddin bin Bahari, Deputy State Health Director (Public Health), Sarawak State Health Department; and YBrs. Dr. Hamidi bin Mohamad Sharkawi, Senior Principal Assistant Director, Public Health Development Branch, Sarawak State Health Department.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of KEMENTERIAN KESIHATAN MALAYSIA, the visit highlighted the importance of strengthening healthcare infrastructure and services to better support communities, particularly in rural areas. – The Capital Post
