KUALA LUMPUR, 8 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad today officiated the reopening of the upgraded headquarters of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA), describing the occasion as a symbol of renewal, progress and continued collaboration between the medical profession and the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM).
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Dzulkefly said the event marked more than the reopening of a refurbished building, but also celebrated the spirit of transformation and the enduring partnership between KKM and the medical fraternity.
He also acknowledged the significant role played by the MMA since its establishment in 1959, describing the association as a respected voice for the medical profession and a strategic partner of the ministry.
Addressing current healthcare challenges, the minister said Malaysia’s health system continues to face complex issues, including rising patient demand, an ageing population, the increasing burden of non-communicable diseases and workforce challenges.

He also expressed appreciation to the MMA and the wider medical fraternity for their patience, understanding and continued support towards KKM in implementing the nation’s healthcare reform agenda.
Among those present were MMA President Datuk Dr. Thirunavukarasu Rajoo, former Director-General of Health and former MMA President Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Abu Bakar Suleiman, MMA President-Elect Dr. Sivanaesan Letchumanan, MMA Honorary Secretary-General Dr. Vasu Pillai Letchumanan, KKM Medical Practice Division Director Dr. Hirman Ismail and Hospital Kuala Lumpur Director Dato’ Dr. Harikrishna K.R. Nair.
