PULAU PINANG, 10 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Penang Regional Development Authority (PERDA) continues to empower rural entrepreneurs through the PERDA Mentor Mentee Entrepreneur Programme (MMU) 2026.
The programme is designed to strengthen rural entrepreneurship through structured skills training, business mentoring and monitoring to help participants start or expand their businesses sustainably.
The programme was officially launched by PERDA Chairman YBhg. Datuk Wira Ir. Dr. Shaik Hussein bin Mydin. Also present were PERDA General Manager YBhg. Dato’ Haji Mohd Asri bin Baharum and the authority’s senior management.
For the 2026 implementation, the programme focuses on three high-potential fields — Car Wash & Detailing, Manicure & Pedicure, and Motorcycle Services.
A total of 30 participants will receive guidance from three experienced mentors, attend at least 16 skills training sessions and receive machinery and equipment assistance worth RM5,000 each.

The initiative also targets B40 youths through a combination of technical skills training, business development courses and equipment support to help them establish and grow competitive businesses.
The event also featured a briefing on the P-Digital application, an online service booking platform introduced by PERDA to help skilled individuals and local entrepreneurs promote their services and generate income through the digital economy.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Lembaga Kemajuan Wilayah Pulau Pinang, the programme reflects PERDA’s continued commitment to developing a more sustainable rural entrepreneurship ecosystem while producing skilled and competitive entrepreneurs capable of adapting to current economic challenges. – The Capital Post
