KOTA KINABALU, 17 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Federal Government has approved RM1.57 billion under Rolling Plan 1 of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMKe-13) for 53 health development projects in Sabah.
The allocation was announced during the Joint Action Committee for Sabah Health Development Meeting No. 1 of 2026 (MA63), co-chaired by Health Minister YB Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad and Sabah Minister of Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing YB Datuk Julita Majungki in Kota Kinabalu today.
The meeting also reported that negotiations on Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) claims related to health development in Sabah, through five sub-committees, are progressing smoothly and have now moved into the implementation phase.
Among the priority new projects approved are the construction of the Sabah Heart Centre and a Type 5 Health Clinic in Sapulut, Nabawan, together with quarters.
The annual allocation for the Sabah State Health Department (JKNS) is also targeted to increase by 5% annually, with the allocation expected to reach RM4 billion by 2030.

To complement physical infrastructure development, human resources are also being strengthened through the creation of 607 new positions in Sabah as of August 1, 2026.
The new positions comprise 355 Management and Professional posts, including 77 specialist positions and 203 medical, dental and pharmacy officers, as well as 252 positions in the Support Group.
The move is aimed at ensuring health facilities can operate at optimum capacity while strengthening healthcare services for the people of Sabah.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of KEMENTERIAN KESIHATAN MALAYSIA, the outcome of the negotiations highlights the strong cooperation between the Federal and Sabah governments in realising the aspirations of MA63 for the wellbeing of the people. – The Capital Post
