KESUMA pushes social protection, skills and jobs in Budget 2027

PUTRAJAYA, 21 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) has called for greater focus on social protection, skills development and employment opportunities in the preparation of Budget 2027.

The ministry raised the priorities during an engagement session on proposed Budget 2027 initiatives with Minister of Finance II Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.

The KESUMA delegation was led by Human Resources Minister Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan, together with Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Khairul Firdaus Bin Akbar Khan and the ministry’s senior leadership.

The session provided a platform for KESUMA to outline strategic priorities and workforce needs that require continued attention in the preparation of Budget 2027.

Among the key areas highlighted were efforts to expand more inclusive and comprehensive social protection, strengthen talent development through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and provide skills training aligned with industry needs and future technologies.

KESUMA also highlighted the continuation of targeted initiatives aimed at empowering the Indian community.

The ministry said it remained committed to ensuring the priorities proposed under Budget 2027 translate into better employment opportunities, stronger social protection and a more secure future for Malaysians.
