MELAKA, 16 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – A record 10,494 participants took part in this year’s national-level Rukun Negara Speech Competition, marking the highest participation recorded since the programme began.
The final of the competition for the rotating trophy of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Melaka was officiated by Melaka Governor Tun Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam on Tuesday (15 September).
Beyond public speaking, the programme serves as a civic education platform for participants to understand, interpret and communicate the principles of the Rukun Negara within Malaysia’s multiracial, multireligious and multicultural society.
The National Unity Ministry said the Rukun Negara should not merely be recited but understood, embraced and practised as part of strengthening national identity, unity and nation-building.
