LIMBANG, 16 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Plans for a new Nanga Medamit Health Clinic are moving forward as the Health Ministry seeks to improve healthcare access for more than 3,000 residents in Limbang and surrounding areas.
Deputy Health Minister YB Dato’ Hajjah Hanifah Hajar Taib visited the existing Nanga Medamit Health Clinic as part of the fourth series of the Sarawak Borneo Health Tour to assess healthcare delivery and the facility’s needs.
The clinic, which began operations in 1965, currently operates as a Type 7 Health Clinic providing integrated primary healthcare services to more than 3,000 residents.
Its services include outpatient and emergency treatment, chronic and non-communicable disease management, health screenings, preventive care and health promotion.
Future development plans include a proposal to relocate the clinic to a more strategic location near the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) Phase 2 alignment while expanding its capacity and facilities.
Hanifah also inspected the proposed site for the new Nanga Medamit Health Clinic together with Deputy Transport Minister and Limbang MP YB Datuk Haji Hasbi bin Haji Habibollah.

The proposed development follows approval for the construction of a Type 5 Health Clinic, which was announced by the Prime Minister last year.
The new facility is expected to provide residents of Nanga Medamit and surrounding communities with more comprehensive, comfortable and accessible healthcare services.
Hanifah was briefed on the clinic’s operations and services by Nanga Medamit Health Clinic Medical Officer YBrs. Dr. Mohd Suhaimi Ramlee and Limbang Divisional Health Officer YBrs. Dr. Norliza binti Jusoh.
Also present were Batu Danau assemblyman YB Dato’ Paulus Palu Gumbang; Health Ministry Deputy Secretary-General (Finance and Development) YBhg. Dato’ Sri Zahrul Hakim bin Abdullah; and Sarawak Health Department Deputy Director (Public Health) YBrs. Dr. Mohammad Nazarudin bin Bahari.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Health Malaysia, the proposed development is aimed at strengthening access to quality healthcare services for communities in Nanga Medamit and surrounding areas. – The Capital Post
