PUTRAJAYA, 24 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Digital and the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT) are exploring strategic cooperation to strengthen Malaysia’s digital resilience against terrorism, violent extremism and online radicalisation.
Digital Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Fabian Bigar received a courtesy visit from a SEARCCT delegation led by its Director-General, Datin Paduka Nur Ashikin Mohd. Taib, on 21 September.
The meeting explored cross-ministry cooperation to strengthen public resilience against extremist threats, including the use of digital content as counter-narratives to raise awareness and improve monitoring of harmful content and guidance circulating online.
Discussions also covered youth empowerment through artificial intelligence (AI) under the SEARCCT STORY programme, as well as the development of an early-detection module on radicalisation for educators.
Both sides also examined opportunities to expand public awareness modules through the national Rakyat Digital learning platform and coordinate the sharing of applications through the government software repository.

The ministry said the potential cooperation highlights the role of digital approaches in strengthening society against online radicalisation while encouraging responsible use of technology and AI.
The initiative is also aligned with Malaysia’s aspiration to become an AI Nation by 2030, with greater emphasis on a secure, resilient and responsible digital ecosystem.
