PUTRAJAYA, 2 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – More than seven million contributors are set to benefit from enhanced support under amendments to the Employment Insurance System and Employment Services Act 2017 (Act 800), which took effect on 1 October 2026.
The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) said the improvements provide greater financial and employment support for eligible contributors who lose their jobs from 1 October onwards.
Under the changes, the Early Re-employment Allowance has been increased from 25 per cent to 50 per cent of the remaining Job Search Allowance.
The maximum training fee has also been raised from RM4,000 to RM7,000, while the daily training allowance has increased from between RM10 and RM20 to RM30.
A new Mobility Assistance Allowance of RM1,000 has also been introduced as a one-off payment for Employment Insurance System beneficiaries who secure a new job more than 100 kilometres from their residence.

Eligible contributors who experience loss of employment from 1 October 2026 may apply for the benefits, subject to the applicable eligibility requirements.
Applications can be submitted through the LINDUNG Kerjaya portal or at the nearest Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) counter.
