JOHOR BAHRU, 4 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) has reviewed upgraded facilities at the Sultan Abu Bakar Heritage Complex in Johor Bahru to assess project progress and ensure the improvements benefit visitors.
MOTAC Deputy Secretary-General (Management) Datuk Surrendren Sathasivam led a monitoring visit on 1 October involving works carried out under the ministry’s Rehabilitation, Conservation, Renovation and Upgrading (PPUN) programme.
The visit focused on facilities and infrastructure upgraded through MOTAC’s PPUN allocation to provide a more conducive, comfortable and visitor-friendly environment.
The delegation also assessed whether completed facilities were being optimally utilised to support the complex’s role as a heritage and cultural destination in Johor.

Feedback was also gathered from Yayasan Warisan Johor on the operation and maintenance of the upgraded facilities.
Also present were the Johor MOTAC director, representatives from MOTAC’s Infrastructure Development Division, Yayasan Warisan Johor and other relevant officials.
