PUTRAJAYA, 8 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stressed that Malaysia’s strong macroeconomic fundamentals must translate into more inclusive growth and tangible benefits for the people ahead of the tabling of Budget 2027.

Anwar made the remarks while chairing a Budget 2027 editors’ briefing attended by senior editors and representatives from media organisations ahead of the budget presentation scheduled for Friday (9 October).

He emphasised that the government’s priorities extend beyond economic performance to addressing the rising cost of living, increasing incomes, reducing inequality and ensuring that the benefits of economic growth are shared more widely.

The government will also continue strengthening its reform agenda through targeted subsidies, fiscal discipline and more effective expenditure monitoring.

Efforts to improve governance and tackle financial leakages, corruption, cartels and monopolies will remain central to the administration’s economic reform measures.
