MARRAKESH, 8 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia and Morocco have explored opportunities to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation, focusing on military training, expertise exchange and emerging defence technologies.
The discussions took place during a courtesy call by Defence Ministry Deputy Secretary-General (Policy) Datuk Mohd Yani Daud on Morocco’s Minister Delegate for National Defence Administration, Abdellatif Loudiyi, on Wednesday (7 October).
The meeting was held in conjunction with Marrakesh AirShow 2026 at the Royal Moroccan Air Force Base.
Both sides explored potential cooperation in strategic defence technologies, including smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI), drone systems, cyber warfare and aerospace.
Malaysia also expressed appreciation for the invitation to participate in the exhibition for the first time, alongside representatives from 22 countries.
During the meeting, Mohd Yani presented an official invitation on behalf of Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin to Abdellatif Loudiyi to attend the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2027 (LIMA 2027), scheduled for April next year.

Morocco also proposed formalising bilateral defence cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a more structured and sustainable framework for strategic engagement between the two countries.
The proposed agreement would provide a platform for strengthening long-term defence relations and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Also present were Inspector General Mohammed Berrid of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces, Malaysian Ambassador to Morocco Edi Irwan Mahmud and Malaysian Armed Forces Headquarters Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Dato’ Seri Haji Muhammad Huzaimi Sabri.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Pertahanan Malaysia, the engagement reflects ongoing efforts to enhance Malaysia-Morocco defence relations through strategic cooperation and technological collaboration – The Capital Post
