KUALA LUMPUR, 9 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The MADANI Government has announced an increase in Malaysia’s monthly minimum wage from RM1,700 to RM2,000, effective June 2027, under Budget 2027.

The proposed RM300 increase is expected to benefit more than four million workers nationwide as part of efforts to improve employee welfare and strengthen household incomes.

The adjustment represents an increase of approximately 17.6 per cent from the current minimum wage, reflecting the government’s efforts to ensure that economic growth delivers broader benefits to workers.

Under the announced measure, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with annual sales below RM50 million will be granted an exemption to allow businesses time to adjust to the revised wage structure.
