KLANG, 9 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia and Italy explored opportunities to strengthen bilateral defence industry cooperation during the Italian–Malaysian Defence Industry Day held at the Port Klang Cruise Terminal in Selangor on Thursday (8 October).
The programme was organised in conjunction with the port call of the Italian Navy vessel ITS Giovanni delle Bande Nere.
Defence Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali attended the event and was welcomed by Italian Ambassador to Malaysia Raffaele Langella and the vessel’s Commanding Officer, Commander Lorenzo Malandrucco.
The event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and local defence industry companies to expand cooperation and strengthen industry networks between the two countries.
Several Italian defence companies were featured during the programme, including Fincantieri, Leonardo S.p.A. and WASS.

The engagement provided a platform for both countries to explore strategic partnerships, exchange technical expertise and identify opportunities for defence technology development.
Discussions also focused on strengthening the capabilities of Malaysia’s domestic defence industry and supporting the continued development of the national defence ecosystem.
Defence Ministry Deputy Secretary-General (Development) Dato’ Abdul Hadi Omar was also present at the event.
