GEORGE TOWN, 20 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysian AI technology company Qube Media Sdn Bhd has committed to fully sponsoring an eight-week artificial intelligence (AI) training programme for Penang Free School students as the institution celebrates its 210th anniversary.

The initiative aims to equip students with practical AI knowledge and skills to prepare them for an increasingly technology-driven world.

The programme will introduce students to AI fundamentals, real-world applications and the growing role of artificial intelligence across industries and the future workforce.

Beyond theoretical learning, the training will focus on helping students understand how AI can be applied effectively and responsibly to everyday challenges.

The initiative supports Penang Free School’s wider Digital Transformation Initiative, which focuses on strengthening digital infrastructure, developing educators’ capabilities and expanding student exposure to AI, robotics, coding and STEM-related disciplines.

Organising chairman of the school’s 210th anniversary celebrations, Ivan Ooi, highlighted the changing technological landscape facing today’s students.

Founded by two Penang Free School alumni, Qube Media’s involvement also reflects the importance of alumni contributions through industry expertise, knowledge sharing and educational partnerships.

The company’s experience in developing and deploying AI applications is expected to provide students with practical exposure to technologies increasingly used in business operations and professional environments.

The programme also aligns with broader international efforts to promote responsible AI education, including UNESCO’s emphasis on technical understanding, ethical awareness and human-centred AI applications.
