BATU FERRINGHI, 21 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) conducted site inspections at two key water infrastructure facilities in Batu Ferringhi, Penang, on Tuesday (20 October), focusing on wastewater management and flood prevention.

The inspections formed part of the Government Asset Management Committee’s (JKPAK) third-quarter 2026 programme to assess government facilities and strengthen infrastructure management.

The first visit was to the Batu Ferringhi Sewage Treatment Plant (STP PEG265), operated by Indah Water Konsortium (IWK).

The facility treats wastewater before it is discharged into the environment in accordance with established standards, helping to reduce water pollution and protect public health.

Officials subsequently visited the Batu Ferringhi Outfall, which is supervised by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS).

The outfall channels water from drainage systems into receiving water bodies, supporting efficient water flow and helping to reduce flood risks, particularly during heavy rainfall.

PETRA emphasised the importance of integrated infrastructure management in protecting the environment, reducing flood risks and improving public well-being.
