KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman is investigating a video of a speech by Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi during Saturday’s (Aug 27) special briefing at the World Trade Centre.
Bukit Aman corporate communications head Asst Comm Skandaguru Anandan said 12 police reports have been lodged over the video.
“Bukit Aman CID’s Special Investigation Unit is investigating under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998 for wrongful use of network facilities.
“So far, we have received 12 reports and the investigation is ongoing,” he said in a statement Tuesday (Aug 30).
On Saturday, Ahmad Zahid held a special briefing for Umno members and leaders after former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak was ordered to serve his 12-year jail sentence following the Federal Court’s decision to uphold his SRC International Sdn Bhd conviction on Aug 23.
It was an emotional moment for those present at the special briefing when video clips of the former party president, prepared by his family as well as Umno, were shown. Some were seen wiping their tears as images of Najib appeared on the big screen.
