Bursa opens higher but retreats thereafter

KUALA LUMPUR (June 17): Bursa Malaysia opened slightly higher but retreated thereafter on continued profit taking on selected technology as well as consumer products and services counters, a dealer said.

At 9.15am, the benchmark FBM KLCI had shed 4.34 points to 1,573.98 from yesterday’s close at 1,578.23.

The index opened 0.43 of a point better at 1,578.75.

Market breadth was negative, with losers leading gainers 293 to 173, while 321 counters were unchanged, 1,378 untraded and 13 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 428.69 million units worth RM191.08 million.-BERNAMA
