Covid-19 deaths rise to 70

PETALING JAYA: The number of Covid-19 deaths saw another rise, with 70 succumbing to the disease yesterday.

According to the health ministry’s GitHub database, 15 of the deaths were classified as brought-in-dead (BID). The death toll now stands at 29,045.

Yesterday, the health ministry reported 62 deaths.

Sarawak recorded the highest number of deaths for the third consecutive day with 18 casualties, followed by Selangor and Kelantan 11 each, Penang (8), Sabah (4), Kedah (6), Perak (5), Johor (4), Pahang, Kuala Lumpur and Terengganu one each.

No deaths were reported in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Putrajaya and Labuan.

As of midnight yesterday, there were 62,862 active cases, including 557 in intensive care units (ICU), 300 of whom require respiratory assistance.

The ministry also reported 5,372 recoveries yesterday.

The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia now stands at 2,481,339.-FMT
