Economy Ministry pushes proactive response to global challenges

PUTRAJAYA, Monday 15 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Economy has reaffirmed its commitment to proactive and strategic policymaking in addressing economic pressures and the ongoing global energy crisis, while laying the groundwork for Malaysia’s long-term development agenda.

According to information shared via the official Facebook page of Kementerian Ekonomi, Minister of Economy Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir highlighted during the ministry’s June 2026 Monthly Assembly that current efforts extend beyond short-term responses and include medium- and long-term planning, particularly preparations for the nation’s 2027 development priorities.

He noted that over the past 100 days, the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) has driven coordinated action across ministries and agencies to address challenges arising from the global energy crisis. A total of 13 special MTEN meetings have been held weekly, resulting in 124 decisions, with 113 initiatives currently under implementation.

As Parliament reconvenes and preparations begin for the 2027 Development Budget, the ministry remains committed to ensuring that projects and allocations are rigorously assessed, implemented by capable agencies, and deliver maximum impact to both the rakyat and the national economy.

The ministry will continue prioritising high-impact projects that support the objectives of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), inclusive national development, and stronger Bumiputera participation in high-value sectors, while maintaining a structured, realistic and results-driven approach to implementation – The Capital Post
