KUALA LUMPUR, 7 May 2026 (The Capital Post) – The proposed Elderly Care Act is expected to be presented to the Cabinet within the next six months, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said the upcoming legislation reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening protection and support systems for Malaysia’s ageing population, which is projected to increase significantly in the coming years.
According to Ahmad Zahid, the proposed Act aims to create a more structured and comprehensive framework for elderly care. This includes improving welfare services, enhancing caregiving standards, and ensuring better coordination among relevant agencies involved in senior citizen support.
