Adly, who was supposed to start the press conference at 11.30am, only came into the room 30 minutes after he was briefed on the reason for the police ambush at the exco office in Seri Negeri, the hub of state administration centre, in Ayer Keroh.

When asked about the arrest, Adly calmly said he couldn’t elaborate much, as it was a police matter.

“But I believe the exco will render full cooperation to the police, and the state government will not intervene in the investigation, ” he said.

One of the exco members, who declined to be named, said he was taken aback to see Saminathan handcuffed.

Saminathan, who is the Gadek state assemblyman, was arrested, allegedly over links to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

The 38-year-old Gadek assemblyman is also the Melaka’s Pakatan Harapan Youth chief and state DAP’s organising chairman.

It’s learnt that Bukit Aman also raided Saminathan’s home in Durian Tunggal here shortly after his arrest. -The Star
