He said discussions would only continue after Umno resolves its internal leadership problems, adding that Pas would maintain its cooperation and relationship with Umno through Muafakat Nasional.

“Umno must resolve its internal issues… the decisions (the party leadership have made) are not unanimous and because of this, we will take the opportunity to discuss seat allocations with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

“Although we are postponing discussions on this matter with Umno, we will continue to cooperate with them through MN,” he said, after his Friday religious lecture aired online held at the Rusila Mosque, here today.

Abdul Hadi who is also Marang member of Parliament said the decision to defer seat allocation discussions had been agreed by the Syura council.

He said the Syura council also agreed for Pas to reject any form of cooperation with parties that are extreme and liberal, but to work with parties that have the same principles and direction in uniting the ummah.

“Pas is ready to work with all parties including Perikatan Nasional, MN, and non-governmental organisations that are not extreme or liberal.

“At the same time, we also reject cooperation with Malay-based parties that have extreme or liberal practises.”

On the decision by Umno to end working ties with Bersatu and Pas, Abdul Hadi said the matter was not made in consensus and only by several top leaders with differing opinions to several Umno ministers in cabinet.-NST
