PUTRAJAYA, 2 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Technical Committee on Harmony Among Religious Adherents (HARMONI) convened its second meeting for 2026, focusing on strengthening early detection, coordinated responses and community resilience in addressing issues that could affect religious harmony in Malaysia.
The meeting was jointly chaired by Ministry of National Unity Secretary-General YBhg. Dato’ Haslina binti Abdul Hamid and JAKIM Deputy Director-General (Policy) YBrs. Tuan Haji Muhyidin bin Aziz@Saari.
Discussions centred on four HARMONI strategic pillars: early detection and risk assessment, information and action coordination, prevention and resolution, and community resilience building.
The committee also examined developments surrounding 3R issues involving race, religion and royalty, as well as sentiments related to places of worship on social media, with emphasis on strengthening integrated early detection and response capabilities.
Nine proposal papers were also reviewed, covering youth development initiatives, strengthening family institutions in the digital era, publications on shared values, and cooperation on religious harmony at national and international levels.

The Ministry of National Unity said it remains committed to strengthening strategic cooperation with JAKIM and stakeholders to preserve Islam’s position as the religion of the Federation while promoting mutual respect, understanding and harmony within Malaysia’s diverse society.
Also present were representatives from the Ministry of National Unity, JPNIN, IKIM, PDRM Bukit Aman and various multi-faith non-governmental organisations.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Perpaduan Negara, the meeting reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation in preserving harmony and mutual understanding among Malaysia’s diverse communities. – The Capital Post
