SERIAN, 5 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – Health Director-General Datuk Dr. Mahathar Abd. Wahab began his official visit to Sarawak with a working visit to the Balai Ringin Health Clinic to review healthcare services and facilities provided to the local community.
Upon arrival, he was welcomed by Serian Divisional Health Officer Dr. Majorie Ensayan Junting and Balai Ringin Health Clinic Medical Officer Dr. Bellarmine Intai, who briefed him on the clinic’s operations, services and healthcare delivery.
Operating since 1980, the Balai Ringin Health Clinic serves more than 12,000 residents in the surrounding area, recording an average of 149 patient visits daily with the support of 21 healthcare personnel.
The clinic provides a wide range of healthcare services, including outpatient treatment, maternal and child healthcare, school health services, emergency care, smoking cessation services, domiciliary care, modern wound care, adolescent health programmes and health screening initiatives such as the National Health Screening Initiative (NHSI) and PeKa B40.
Supporting facilities, including laboratory and pharmacy services, virtual clinics and mobile health services, also help expand access to healthcare, particularly for rural communities.

The Ministry of Health reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the delivery of quality, inclusive and accessible healthcare services nationwide, particularly in underserved and rural areas, to improve the well-being of Malaysians.
Also present during the visit were Deputy Director (Public Health Policy and Services) of the Public Health Development Division Dr. Jamiatul Aida Md. Sani, Deputy Director (Family Health) of the Family Health Development Division Dr. Radziah Mohamad, and Sarawak Deputy Health Director (Public Health) Dr. Mohamad Nazaruddin Bahari.
