PUTRAJAYA, 13 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Home Ministry (KDN) and Transport Ministry (MOT) are strengthening security controls and screening procedures at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and other international entry points nationwide.
The first 2026 Joint Technical Committee Meeting between KDN and MOT on security measures at KLIA was held at the Home Ministry on Friday (11 September).
The meeting was jointly chaired by the Secretary-General of the Home Ministry and the Secretary-General of the Transport Ministry.
Discussions focused on coordinating the phased implementation of a Security and Screening Improvement and Mitigation Action Plan for KLIA and other international entry points.
The initiative follows a Cabinet decision dated 19 August 2026 and is aimed at strengthening security controls, improving screening efficiency at KLIA and monitoring the preparedness of security measures across the country’s international entry points.

Representatives from the Ministry of Health, Public Service Department, Royal Malaysia Police, Immigration Department, Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency, Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad and the Office of the Chief Government Security Officer were among those attending the meeting.
Other relevant ministries and agencies also participated as part of the coordinated approach to strengthening security and screening at Malaysia’s international gateways.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Home Ministry, the action plan is being implemented in phases to strengthen security, improve screening efficiency and ensure preparedness across the country’s international entry points. – The Capital Post
