BANGKOK, 24 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) is strengthening regional labour cooperation through Malaysia’s participation in the 22nd ASEAN Senior Labour Officials Meeting (SLOM) in Bangkok, Thailand.
KESUMA Deputy Secretary-General (Policy and International) YBrs. Dr. Haji Mohd Shaharin bin Umar attended a working dinner held in conjunction with the 22nd SLOM at Hotel Dusit Thani, Bangkok, on 23 August 2026.
He was accompanied by KESUMA International Division Secretary YBhg. Datin Sri Norfaliza binti Ismail and the Malaysian delegation. The dinner was hosted by Thailand’s Ministry of Labour and attended by heads of SLOM delegations.
The event provided an opportunity to strengthen relations, mutual understanding and cooperation networks among senior labour officials from ASEAN member states, while discussing the SLOM agenda and programmes as well as preparations for the 29th ASEAN Labour Ministers Meeting (ALMM).

The 22nd SLOM will take place on 24 August, followed by the 24th SLOM + 3 on 25 August. Both meetings will serve as important platforms for coordinating agendas and preparations for the 29th ALMM on 26 August and the 14th ASEAN Labour Ministers Meeting + 3 on 27 August.
Malaysia’s participation through KESUMA reflects its commitment to strengthening ASEAN cooperation in labour matters, particularly in addressing changes in the employment landscape and developing a progressive, inclusive and responsive labour market.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Human Resources, the Malaysian delegation’s participation in the working dinner forms part of preparations for upcoming ASEAN labour meetings and reflects Malaysia’s commitment to regional labour cooperation. – The Capital Post
