KOTA SAMARAHAN, 18 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKDW) is strengthening coordination with Sarawak’s resident and district officers to ensure rural development plans and decisions are effectively implemented at the district level.
KKDW Secretary-General YBhg. Dato’ Sri Suriani binti Dato’ Ahmad chaired the ministry’s first special meeting with Sarawak resident and district officers at the RISDA office in Kota Samarahan.
The meeting follows the coordination meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, and state rural executive councillors, known as MEXCLUB.
The 61st MEXCLUB Meeting No. 1/2026 was held on 23 July at Bahang Bay, Penang.
The Sarawak meeting focused on coordinating implementation at district level to ensure plans and decisions, particularly those agreed under MEXCLUB, are carried out smoothly and achieve their intended objectives.

It also forms part of stakeholder engagement ahead of MEXCLUB Meeting No. 2/2026, which is expected to be held in Johor in November.
Also present were KKDW Deputy Secretary-General (Policy) YBhg. Dato’ Abdul Kahar bin Abdullah; Sarawak Department of Irrigation and Drainage Director YBhg. Datu Ir. Ts. Haji Ahmad Denney bin Haji Ahmad Fauzi; representatives from federal and Sarawak departments and agencies; Sarawak resident and district officers; and KKDW division secretaries.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Rural and Regional Development Ministry, the special meeting was held to strengthen coordination and implementation at the district level ahead of the next MEXCLUB meeting. – The Capital Post
