KKR Reviews Tangkak Infrastructure Projects to Enhance Public Benefits

TANGKAK, 20 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan conducted a working visit to Tangkak, Johor, on Friday to inspect ongoing infrastructure development projects and assess service delivery to the local community.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Kerja Raya Malaysia, the visit involved officials from the Ministry of Works (KKR) and the Public Works Department (JKR) Tangkak District.

The ministry said the visit reflects the MADANI Government’s commitment to ensuring public infrastructure development and maintenance projects are implemented effectively to improve the wellbeing of communities and support local economic growth.

JKR Tangkak is responsible for maintaining 99.5 kilometres of Federal Roads and 198.5 kilometres of State Roads across the district. Maintenance works encompass routine and periodic activities, including pavement and non-pavement repairs, drainage systems, culverts and slope maintenance.

As of June 2026, a total of RM6.4 million has been allocated for Federal Road maintenance works in the district, covering road repairs, drainage improvements and upgrades to road furniture and signage.

The ministry said two Federal Road projects with a combined value of RM157 million and one State Road project worth RM10.5 million are currently being implemented to enhance road safety, comfort and traffic flow.

In addition, a new road alignment project funded by the Federal Government with an allocation of RM80 million, as well as a road and bridge upgrading project under the State Government valued at RM10 million, are currently in the process of receiving Letters of Acceptance.

Within the building sector, two projects funded by the Federal Government with a combined value of RM1.7 million are also underway. The projects involve the construction of a new Orang Asli kindergarten and additional school classrooms to meet local educational needs.

JKR is also planning the Segamat–Tangkak Road Upgrade Project (Package 44 – Missing Link), which is expected to help reduce traffic congestion along the main route into Tangkak town.

Meanwhile, plans are in place to upgrade a bridge along Jalan Johor Bahru–Melaka to strengthen structural safety and improve user comfort.

KKR said it remains committed to ensuring all infrastructure development and maintenance projects are delivered according to schedule, comply with established safety and quality standards, and provide direct benefits to the public through improved quality of life and sustainable economic development. – The Capital Post
