KPK strengthens smallholder support in palm oil sustainability drive

Putrajaya, 24 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (KPK) continues to strengthen strategic collaboration with the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) and Solidaridad in efforts to empower smallholders as a key pillar of Malaysia’s sustainable palm oil industry.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Perladangan dan Komoditi, the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Solidaridad–MPOB collaboration was held in Putrajaya, where the ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the role of smallholders in meeting global sustainability requirements.

Representing the Minister of Plantation and Commodities, KPK Secretary-General YBhg. Dato’ Yusran Shah Mohd Yusof delivered a speech highlighting the government’s continued focus on ensuring smallholders are not left behind in an increasingly demanding global market that prioritises sustainability, traceability, and international compliance standards.

He noted that strategic partnerships with organisations such as Solidaridad play an important role in complementing government efforts through capacity building, support for Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) certification, and grassroots-level empowerment of smallholders.

KPK reaffirmed its commitment to building a more sustainable, inclusive, and competitive palm oil industry, in line with the aspirations of the MADANI Economy, while strengthening Malaysia’s position as a leading global supplier of palm oil.
