SEGAMAT, 19 May 2026 (The Capital Post) — Malaysia’s Ministry of National Unity (KPN), through the National Archives of Malaysia, organised the Arkib@Sekolah programme in conjunction with the 100th anniversary celebration of Sekolah Tinggi Segamat as part of efforts to strengthen historical awareness, preserve national heritage and instil patriotism among the younger generation.
The programme was officiated by Deputy National Unity Minister Yuneswaran Ramaraj at Sekolah Tinggi Segamat, Johor.
According to the ministry, the initiative forms part of KPN’s 2026 direction under the Tunas MADANI Cluster and serves as an important platform to bring archival materials closer to the community, especially students, through interactive and history-based educational approaches.
In his speech, Yuneswaran Ramaraj described the Arkib@Sekolah programme as an important initiative in introducing the significance of archival materials as authentic and credible historical sources.
He said the use of archival materials such as documents, photographs, records, files and audiovisual resources can help students gain a deeper, more critical and comprehensive understanding of history.

He also stressed that in today’s digital era and rapid flow of information, younger generations should place greater appreciation on historical records and documents that hold significant value to the nation and society.
According to him, the preservation of archival materials is crucial to ensure future generations do not lose connection with the country’s historical roots and national identity.
