KUALA LUMPUR, 7 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia led discussions on strengthening the competitiveness and resilience of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at the 62nd APEC Small and Medium Enterprises Working Group Meeting (SMEWG62) in Guangzhou, China.
KUSKOP Secretary-General YBhg. Dato’ Sri Khairul Dzaimee bin Daud led the Malaysian delegation to the meeting, held from 2 to 3 September 2026.
SMEWG62 served as a strategic platform for Asia-Pacific economies to discuss measures to strengthen MSME development and competitiveness.
Key discussions focused on improving access to global markets, promoting sustainable business practices and strengthening MSMEs’ resilience in facing current economic challenges.
The Malaysian delegation also held meetings with representatives from other APEC economies to strengthen entrepreneurial and economic ties.

The engagements were aimed at expanding international business networks for Malaysian entrepreneurs in line with the “Hebatkan Perniagaan Malaysia” initiative.
Representatives from KUSKOP agencies, including SME Corp. Malaysia, Institut Keusahawanan Negara (INSKEN) and Centre for Entrepreneur Development and Research (CEDAR) SME Bank, also joined the delegation.
Senior KUSKOP officers were also part of the Malaysian delegation to Guangzhou.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, the participation reflects Malaysia’s efforts to strengthen international cooperation and expand opportunities for local MSMEs in the global market. – The Capital Post
