LIMA’27 officially launched ahead of April 2027 exhibition

KUALA LUMPUR, 8 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Defence officially launched the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2027 (LIMA’27), setting the stage for Southeast Asia’s largest defence, maritime and aerospace exhibition scheduled to take place from 20 to 24 April 2027 in Langkawi, Kedah.

The launch ceremony at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) was officiated by Chief of Defence Force General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Haji Malek Razak Sulaiman and Ministry of Defence Secretary-General Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali, who serve as co-chairmen of LIMA’27.

Held under the theme “Leading Sustainable Vision Across Sea, Air and Space”, the biennial exhibition is organised by the Ministry of Defence in collaboration with Global Exhibition & Conference Sdn. Bhd. (GEC).

LIMA’27 is expected to feature four elite international aerobatic teams and attract 930 exhibitors from 36 countries, more than 450 official delegates representing 65 countries, and approximately 400,000 visitors.

The exhibition will also highlight emerging defence technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous systems, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), cybersecurity and space technologies, while strengthening defence diplomacy, strategic partnerships and the development of Malaysia’s defence industry.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Defence and the Malaysian Armed Forces, foreign diplomatic representatives, local and international defence industry players, as well as LIMA’27 strategic partners, also attended the launch.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Pertahanan Malaysia, LIMA’27 will continue to serve as a key platform for showcasing defence capabilities, fostering international collaboration and driving innovation in the maritime, aerospace and defence sectors. – The Capital Post
