PUTRAJAYA, 3 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia and Nigeria are exploring stronger higher education cooperation, including student mobility, joint research, scholarships and technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
Higher Education Minister YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir received a courtesy call from High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Malaysia, H.E. Ahmed Olatunji Sulu-Gambari, in Putrajaya yesterday.
The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen existing diplomatic ties while exploring practical higher education cooperation that could deliver long-term benefits to both countries.
H.E. Ahmed Olatunji Sulu-Gambari, who began his posting in Malaysia in July 2026, expressed his commitment to narrowing the gap between the two countries and strengthening bilateral understanding and relations.
Discussions covered efforts to increase student enrolment, strengthen the formal framework for cooperation, and explore opportunities for joint research and scholarships.

Both sides also discussed strengthening TVET cooperation through instructor training and the alignment of qualifications with global industry standards.
The Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) said stronger academic diplomacy and strategic cooperation could support human capital development while further strengthening international education ties between Malaysia and Nigeria.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi, the engagement reflects Malaysia’s efforts to expand practical higher education cooperation with Nigeria and strengthen bilateral academic relations. – The Capital Post
