MOTAC coordinates F1 tourism strategy ahead of Malaysian Grand Prix

PUTRAJAYA, 4 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) is strengthening preparations for the Gulf Air Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix by coordinating tourism, promotion and business strategies with relevant agencies and industry partners.

MOTAC Secretary-General Dato’ Shaharuddin bin Abu Sohot chaired the third Marketing, Promotion and Tourism Sub-Committee meeting for 2026 on 2 September to coordinate preparations involving the ministry and participating agencies.

The meeting discussed strategic cooperation between MOTAC, the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP), Tourism Malaysia, Kraftangan Malaysia and Petronas Malaysia.

KUSKOP will also coordinate guidelines and business spaces for local entrepreneurs, while Kraftangan Malaysia will promote Malaysian handicrafts to international visitors attending the event.

Tourism Malaysia is developing integrated tourism packages covering Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Sepang to encourage visitors to extend their stays and increase tourism spending.

The preparations are aimed at maximising the tourism and economic opportunities arising from the prestigious motorsport event while providing visitors with broader experiences beyond the race itself.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Pelancongan, Seni dan Budaya Malaysia, the meeting focused on strengthening coordinated tourism, promotional and business efforts ahead of the Formula 1 event. – The Capital Post
