KUANTAN, 4 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – A new interchange connecting the East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2) directly to Kuantan Port has opened, strengthening transport links to key industrial and logistics hubs in Pahang.
The Kuantan Port Interchange was officially opened yesterday by Pahang Menteri Besar YAB Dato’ Sri Diraja Haji Wan Rosdy bin Wan Ismail and Deputy Works Minister YB Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Maslan.
Also present was Deputy Economy Minister YB Dato’ Sri Mohd Shahar Abdullah, along with representatives from the Pahang state government, Ministry of Works (KKR), Ministry of Economy, Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC), LPT2 Sdn. Bhd. and other stakeholders.
The interchange provides direct access to Kuantan Port, Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP), the Gebeng industrial area and Kuantan Port City.
The new access is expected to cut travel time by up to 30 minutes, ease congestion along Federal Route FT3 and improve road safety by reducing interaction between heavy vehicles and local traffic.
Since 2015, 14 companies have invested RM22.5 billion in MCKIP, creating more than 9,100 job opportunities.

Improved connectivity is expected to further enhance supply chain efficiency and strengthen the competitiveness of industries in the surrounding areas.
The Kuantan Port Toll Plaza will begin operations at 6am on 4 September 2026 and will be open to all highway users.
Motorists have been advised to ensure sufficient balance in their Touch ‘n Go or SmartTAG accounts and comply with speed limits, road signs and safety instructions while travelling.
The collaboration between LLM, ECERDC and LPT2 Sdn. Bhd., with support from the Federal and Pahang state governments, reflects continued efforts to strengthen infrastructure, connectivity and economic growth in the East Coast Economic Region.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Kerja Raya Malaysia, the new interchange is expected to improve accessibility to major economic and logistics areas in the region. – The Capital Post
